Intern Spotlight: Jada Makar

Each semester, Political Awareness proudly partners with The Washington Center’s prestigious academic internship program, bringing in the brightest emerging talent. This summer, we’re hosting more than 30 exceptional student interns. In this issue, we’re recognizing a standout intern whose dedication to civic education and social justice reflects the very mission of our organization.

Jada Makar is a rising junior at Elizabethtown College. Majoring in political science with double minors in communication and business administration. Originally from Easton, Pennsylvania, she is also a proud first-generation college student and a passionate advocate for equity and engagement. Makar chose to bring her talents to Political Awareness because of its commitment to nonpartisan political education.

“I’m a firm believer that education is the most important part of political engagement,” Makar said. “Coming into this internship, I was excited by the opportunity to help create accessible, educational materials for the public, while working with a team that shares my values.”

This semester, Makar is especially eager to dive into the inner workings of a Super PAC. Gaining hands-on experience that will expand both her skills and understanding of political strategy. Her time at Political Awareness aligns perfectly with her larger commitment to social change. On campus, Makar has involved herself in several justice-oriented programs. Including her work with the Center for Global Understanding and Peacebuilding, her job at a substance abuse clinic, and her mentorship role with the Ubuntu program for historically marginalized communities.

With plans to attend law school moving forward, Makar is purpose-driven, grounded in community, and poised to be a powerful force for change. Political Awareness is proud to be part of her journey.
